What data we collect

When you fill in the enquiry form, we process your name, your year of birth, your email address and your mobile number. In addition we transmit the result of the quick check in heavily condensed form — that is, only whether the check came out green or amber. The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.

Optional information on weight, medication and surgery

The enquiry form contains three optional fields: your approximate weight, medication you take regularly and surgery in the past two years. This information constitutes health data and therefore a special category of personal data under Art. 9 GDPR. We process it solely on the basis of your explicit consent under Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR, which you give by ticking the box in the form.

All three fields are optional: you can leave them blank and clarify everything in person — your enquiry will not be treated any differently. The information serves only to assess in advance whether donating is safe for you and whether the cells are suitable for research. It is not used for advertising and not passed on to third parties. You can withdraw your consent informally at any time; we will then delete the information immediately.

The quick check

The quick check runs entirely in your browser. Your individual answers — in particular those about health, weight, medication and substance use — are not transmitted to us and not stored. They exist only in your browser's temporary storage (sessionStorage) and are deleted when you close the tab. All that reaches us is the result level.

Communication via WhatsApp

If you give us your mobile number and consent to being contacted, we may contact you via WhatsApp. WhatsApp is operated by Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. In doing so, your mobile number and the content of the messages are transmitted to Meta; processing outside the EU cannot be ruled out. The legal basis is your explicit consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, which you can withdraw informally at any time.

We use WhatsApp exclusively to arrange appointments. Findings, blood values and other health data are never discussed via WhatsApp, only in person or by phone.

If you would rather not use it, simply send us an email at info@you-care.at — we will then contact you only in the way you prefer.

Retention period

We store your enquiry data for as long as it is needed to process it and to consider you for our donor programme. If your enquiry does not lead to a donation, we delete the data after twelve months at the latest. On a short message from you we of course delete it immediately.

Google Analytics and reach measurement

This website uses Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. We use it to understand how the site is found and used — which pages are viewed, how long people stay and whether an enquiry was sent. We evaluate this data only in aggregated form and do not link it to you personally.

In doing so we use Google Consent Mode. As long as you have not consented via the cookie notice, no cookies are set and no identifiers are stored; Google then receives only anonymous, aggregated signals without recognition. Cookies and cross-device attribution are added only with your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw your consent at any time by clearing this website's data in your browser — the notice will then appear again on your next visit.

In the process your IP address is transmitted to Google and truncated there. Processing in the USA cannot be ruled out; Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Google deletes the stored usage data after the period configured for the property (default: 2 months, at most 14 months). Cookies necessary for running the site are always set — they store only your cookie decision and the interim state of the quick check.

Once we run Google Ads campaigns, we will also measure through the same service which ad led to an enquiry. That too happens only with your consent.

Disclosure to third parties

We do not pass your contact details on to third parties and we do not sell them. The exception is technical service providers who support us in running the website and sending mail, and who are contractually bound to confidentiality.

Your rights

You have the right to information, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. To exercise these, simply contact info@you-care.at. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority.
